About Me

Hi! I'm Sarah, a violinist and dedicated educator with a passion for orchestral and chamber performance. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance, summa cum laude, from East Carolina University, where I studied under Ara Gregorian, who is now Chair of String and Piano Chamber Music at the New England Conservatory. During my time at ECU, I served as concertmaster of the ECU Symphony Orchestra and earned Suzuki Violin Teacher Certification for Volumes 1–10 under the mentorship of Joanne Bath.

I maintained a full violin studio in North Carolina for nearly a decade. I love tailoring my teaching to the individual needs and learning styles of each student and offer both Suzuki and traditional methods. Over the years, my violin students have consistently earned top ratings in National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) Festivals and have held top chairs—including concertmaster positions—in both All-County and All-State orchestras. I also teach viola and piano.

As an active performer, I am a member of the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle in Durham, NC. Over my six years with the COT, I have had the privilege of collaborating closely with the highly acclaimed Verona and Balourdet Quartets. I was also a first violin section member of the Carolina Philharmonic, Raleigh Symphony Orchestra, Long Bay Symphony, and Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra. My solo accomplishments include winning the East Carolina University and Raleigh Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competitions.

Over the years, I've participated in numerous music festivals, including the Madeline Island Music Camp in Wisconsin, the International String Festival in Cambridge, England, and the Four Seasons Chamber Music Next Generation program. These experiences allowed me to study and collaborate with distinguished artists and pedagogues, including members of the Enso, Jupiter, Arianna, and Cooperstown Quartets, as well as Ida Kavafian, Rodney Friend, Xiao-Dong Wang, Robert McDonald, Jonathan Swartz, Emmanuel Gruber, Hye-Jin Kim, Keiko Sekino, Melissa Reardon, Tom Sauer, and Felicia Moye.

In addition to my BM in Music Performance and BA in Comparative Humanities, I hold a MA in History and was a full-time faculty member at Wake Technical Community College for several years. Currently, I serve as an adjunct instructor, teaching World History and Western Civilization.
